Better care for patients with cystic fibrosis

Today, at the Health Insurance Fund of Macedonia, the Fund's Director General, Sasho Klekoski, held a meeting with a delegation from Vertex, the only manufacturer of innovative therapy for cystic fibrosis in the world, at which the Fund's commitment and care for patients with cystic fibrosis were highlighted. 

“We are ready to improve care for patients with cystic fibrosis by including a larger number of patients, as soon as possible”

  - Director Klekovski emphasised.

The Vertex delegation was led by Adrian Vasiliou, Commercial Director for Central and Eastern Europe. Igor G. Nikolov, adviser to the Prime Minister on health reforms, was also present at the meeting.

The Fund's Director thanked Vertex for its efforts to include innovative therapy and for its overall support for Macedonia, which began in 2022. 

The representatives of the Vertex delegation highlighted the importance of early detection of the disease cystic fibrosis, where MANU has results at a European level, as well as the need for timely inclusion of patients who have this diagnosis in treatment programmes.

Klekoski announced that next week the procedure for inclusion in the Positive List of the medicine Microzyme, which is from the group of pancreatic enzymes and is intended for these patients, will be completed.
