Working meeting with Dr Akim Ali from the World Health Organization

On 15.07.2024, the general director of the HIFRNM, Sasho Klekovski, held an official working meeting with Dr Akim Ali, representative of the World Health Organization and Head of the Office in North Macedonia. This working meeting provided an opportunity to become acquainted with and explore the common agenda, which consists of ensuring universal healthcare for the population of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The WHO recognises the fundamental importance of the role of the Health Insurance Fund in achieving the global commitment that is also important for the Republic of North Macedonia, namely that the population can access health services when needed, without incurring excessive out-of-pocket costs and, of course, that the state is able to achieve this, within the available resources as far as possible.

The WHO and the Health Insurance Fund, working with the Ministries of Health and Finance, healthcare providers and other key UN stakeholders, development partners, health service providers, other related sectors and the community, will prioritise achieving equitable access to universal care, promoting effective management and planning, and implementing the sustainable use of the healthcare budget in the country, now and for future generations.
