Four New Electronic Services of the Health Insurance Fund

Today, Thursday, 22 January 2026, at the Media Centre of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, together with the Director of the Health Insurance Fund, Sasho Klekovski, held a joint press conference at which the launch of four new electronic services of the Health Insurance Fund was officially announced - three intended for natural persons and one for legal entities. The services are available through the National Portal for Electronic Services - uslugi.gov.mk.

The Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, emphasised that digitalisation is a continuous process, not a one-off activity.

"Today we mark the beginning of fruitful cooperation with the Health Insurance Fund - a key institution in the health system. The new electronic services simplify access to important documents, reduce the administrative burden, eliminate unnecessary waiting and physical visits to counters. It is particularly significant that, for the first time, a fully digital service is being enabled, available 24/7, for confirmation of paid contribution for compulsory health insurance for legal entities. This is the right model of digital transformation: institutions that cooperate, systems that are connected and services that work for the benefit of citizens and businesses"
  - Andonovski stressed.

The Director of the Health Insurance Fund, Sasho Klekovski, pointed out that the Ministry of Digital Transformation provides key tools (“key enablers”) that enable rapid, standardised and cost-effective digitalisation.

“The Health Insurance Fund uses all the components offered by the Ministry of Digital Transformation - the interoperability system, electronic identification (eID) and the National Electronic Mailbox. The HIF is connected in terms of data with the ESA, UVMK and MLSP, has a direct connection with the PRO and ‘My Term’, and as of today is also connected with the Central Population Register. This provides us with timely and up-to-date data on insured persons and better planning of measures. More than 250.000 users will be able to use eID to access the HIF portal and submit requests for rights and services electronically”
  - Klekovski stated.

The new electronic services available as of today are:

• Confirmation of registrations and deregistrations in compulsory health insurance (for natural persons)
• Confirmation of insured/uninsured person and paid contribution (for natural persons)
• Confirmation of paid salary compensation during temporary incapacity for work (for natural persons)
• Confirmation of paid contribution for compulsory health insurance (for legal entities - a fully digital service, available 24/7, enabled electronically for the first time)

This represents a continuation of the digitalisation process of the Health Insurance Fund. Several digital processes are already in operation for public and private health institutions, as well as services related to biomedical assisted fertilisation (in vitro - BAF).

The project is also in its final phase e-prescription, which is expected to be fully finalised soon.

Dozens of other digital processes are also at an advanced stage, including: reimbursement of costs, exemption from co-payment, treatment abroad, orthopaedic aids, maternity rights, as well as other services of importance to insured persons.
