Working Visit to PHI General Hospital Veles
Today, as part of the ongoing activities to improve health services, the Directors General of the Health Insurance Fund, Mr Sasho Klekovski and Mr Branko Adzhigogov, together with the Deputy Minister of Health, Mr Jovica Andovski, paid a working visit to PHI General Hospital Veles.
The focus of the visit was the situation regarding health services at regional level, the enhancement of cooperation between the hospital and the Fund, as well as the presentation of new measures to improve access to oncology therapy for patients.
From 4 August 2025, patients treated with tablet oncology therapy – anastrozole and letrozole – will be able to collect their therapy directly from pharmacies, at the expense of the Fund.
“With this measure, access to therapy is significantly facilitated, and patients will have a simplified procedure. They only need to obtain a report from their oncologist, obtain a prescription from their family doctor and then collect the therapy from a pharmacy. The co-payment will amount to around 50 denars”

During the visit, the procurement of new medical equipment for the needs of the hospital was also announced.
“Veles General Hospital will procure medical equipment for the Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Paediatric and Neurology and Psychiatry Departments. The procurement is secured from the total allocated 40 million denars of Fund resources, of which the larger part is for settling the institution’s debt, and part for salaries of newly employed staff and for new equipment,”

“Medical equipment will be procured for several departments. I will emphasise the most significant one – for the Ophthalmology Department, where a phaco machine has already been procured, and now a microscope will also be procured, thereby completing the equipment for regular work. This means that eye surgery will also be able to be performed in Veles”- Klekovski added.
The working visit to Veles Hospital is part of the Fund’s broader activities to bring health services closer to citizens and establish a sustainable model of treatment that places patients at the centre of attention.
