Greater supply of medicines in more pharmacies
The Fund covers 450 generics, or 1133 medicines from different manufacturers, on the Positive List of prescription medicines. Insured persons obtain these medicines by prescription from a general practitioner, and for some of them a recommendation from a specialist/subspecialist is required. Insured persons may obtain medicines from the Positive List in 767 pharmacies across the entire territory of the Republic of Macedonia, and it is significant that among them there are 61 new pharmacy stations, 5 mobile pharmacies and 3 rural pharmacies, which is a new project of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for greater availability of medicines in rural areas. For that purpose, the medicines budget has been increased, which is historically the largest since the establishment of the Fund and amounts to 2,46 billion denars.
