Four months since the introduction of the new development for treatment abroad

From 01.01.2013, the amendments and supplements to the Law on Health Insurance entered into force (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia” no. 26/2012), where Article 32 paragraph 2 provides that, for health services for approved treatment abroad, the insured person participates with 20% of the total costs, but not more than 200 euros in denar equivalent. Children with special needs, in accordance with the regulations on social protection, are exempt from paying the personal contribution of the participation fee of 200 euros in denar equivalent. In accordance with the rulebook, for a child up to three years of age the HIFM approves funds for an accompanying person for the entire duration of hospital treatment.
